GENERAL EPISTLES

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course will survey some of the General Epistles of the New Testament. This survey will include message, purpose, and major themes in each of these letters and be able to distinguish the different characteristics of each of these epistles. This course will be an overview into the theology of each of these epistles and help students interact with the text.

COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVE:

THIS COURSE WILL INTRODUCE YOU TO CONCEPTS OF:

  • The purpose of Hebrews in exhorting believers to grow in their Christian faith by instruction concerning the superiority of Jesus

  • The purpose of 1 Peter in exhorting and encouraging suffering believers onto maturity by testifying to the true grace of God

  • The purpose of 2 Peter in encouraging the spiritual growth of believers and waring against false teachers

  • The purpose of James in encouraging believers by demonstrating the connection between inward faith and outward works

  • The purpose of Jude in admonishing and warning believers by exposing the lifestyle and doctrine of false teachers

  • Understanding the key theological themes in each of the General Epistles

  • Applying these themes into church ministry and personal life
