MAJOR DOCTRINES
COURSE DESCRIPTION: The Apostle Paul gives this charge to Titus, “You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine” (Titus 2:1). To Timothy, Paul advises, “Follow the pattern of the sound words that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. (2 Timothy 1:13).
During the 14 class sessions of this course, students will be introduced to six major doctrines of Biblical theology and explore the Bible for basic scriptural support of subsets that provide definition for the doctrine.
COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVE:
THIS COURSE WILL INTRODUCE YOU TO CONCEPTS OF:
Theology proper – the doctrine of God
Anthropology – the doctrine of man
Christology – the doctrine of Christ
Soteriology – the doctrine
Pneumatology – the doctrine of the church
Eschatology – the doctrine of end times
YOU WILL GAIN SPECIFIC UNDERSTANDING AND PERSONAL APPLICATION FOR:
Students will have the opportunity to discuss challenges they may face in defense of doctrinal positions presented in the class in an effort to begin a life-time progression of being rooted in the teaching of sound doctrine scripture per Paul’s personal charge to Timothy to “Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.”
